Dallas United Methodist Church

Pawsabilities was honored to attend  Sunday service at the Dallas United Methodist Church.

Pawsabilities holds our meetings at the church and we appreciated the opportunity to thank the church for their support.

Dave O. talked with the children of the church about how TSE puppies know what they will be when they grow up and the special life they will have.

Thank you again to Reverend Roberts and the Dallas UMC members.

Mahanoy Area Middle School

Pawsabilities traveled to Mahanoy Area Middle School for a presentation to introduce their "Pennies For Puppies" fundraiser.  Amanda M. of our club suggested the fundraiser to her 7th grade class.

We presented two demos (1 hr each) to a total of 360 students.  After each presentation the audience was allowed to pet the pups.  Now that's a lot of petting and attention for our young dogs.  Sally, Hilton, Happy, Dedra, Imala and Dean were patient and well behaved through out the day.

We were very proud of the pups and the student's commitment to raise "pennies for puppies. Go Bears!

Club Meeting

This was Dean's first meeting and all the pups were eager to greet him.  Training is an important part of puppy raising.  We devote time at each meeting to work on the basics.

Pawsabilities Night at the Movies

A night at them movies is always fun.  Teaching our puppies to rest quietly at our feet and not to look for snacks of dropped popcorn can be a difficult task ~ our pups took on this challenge and did wonderfully!

Pawsabilities extends a BIG tail wagging thank you to RC Movies 14 in Wilkes Barre, PA for helping us teach our pups this valuable skill.

Morristown St. Patrick's Parade

A chilly but sunny day was our back-drop for the annual Morristown St. Pat's parade.

We were honored to be part of The Seeing Eye Group.  The parade is very good learning experience for the dogs.   The crowds were especially great exposure for the pups.

We were happy to also meet other puppy raisers and their pups.

Pawsabilities partnered with Unison Engine Components "Adopt a Classroom" to visit the children of the Luzerne County Head Start in Wilkes Barre.
Morris Frank and Buddy
We shared the story of The Seeing Eye and how a little puppy grows and learns to become a guide dog.  The children, ages 3 to 5 years old, especially liked seeing the pictures of our pups when they were little.

Of course it was a special treat for the children to pet the pups.   As we departed it was good to see the many smiles of joy that we left behind.  A big thank you to Miss Holly & Miss Kristen classrooms for letting us visit.

Club Meeting

This was Yama's first meeting, she worked along side the 'big' dogs like a pro.

Training the dogs to ignore other animals is a key characteristic of a guide dog.  To help our pups with this training, Kim M. brought her pet dog "Diamond" to act as a distraction.  Diamond did a BRILLIANT job working with our pups.  It was a PAWSATIVELY a great training session!

A BIG thank you to Kim & Diamond.

  Memorial Day Picnic

Our puppies get great exposure to people and activities at a picnic.  With so much food - it's also a great time to work on their skills for ingoring food and to work on any begging for food bad habits.
